European Investment Bank has committed €108 million to upgrades at a pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) project in Extremadura, Spain.

Eolian, BrightNight and esVolta, three US-headquartered developers and independent power producers (IPPs) with energy storage projects in their portfolios and pipelines, have each announced major financing.

Independent power producer (IPP) Grenergy has reached financial close on phase one and two of its Oasis de Atacama BESS and solar project in Chile, which will eventually reach 4.1GWh.

Eolian has taken the amount of financing it has raised in just three years since founding to more than a billion-and-a-half-dollars.
