Independent power producer (IPP) RWE has commissioned a 35MW/41MWh BESS in the Netherlands, while commissioning is progressing on a smaller system with grid-forming capabilities.
A large-scale hybrid project has been connected to the grid in China, combining BESS and supercapacitor technology to provide numerous services to the grid including black start.
Developer and IPP Elevate Renewables will deploy a grid-forming BESS at a fossil fuel peaker plant in Connecticut, US, with US$27.5 million from the Department of Energy (DOE).
