Idaho Power has overcome a huge hurdle facing its plan to deploy a 200MW/800MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the City of Boise by the end of next year.

Dedicated battery energy storage system (BESS) spin-out of Mitsubishi Power Americas, Prevalon Energy has secured a contract with investor-owned-utility (IOU) Idaho Power for a 200MW/800MWh BESS.

Idaho Power is seeking approval from the state regulator to deploy an additional 100MW of BESS to plug the gap left within its portfolio following the cancellation of a deal with IPP Savion. 

A team of technical staff working for the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) has given its recommendation to approve a request from Boise, ID-headquartered utility Idaho Power to develop a 150MW standalone BESS at its Boise Bench substation located in Ada County, Idaho. 

Prevalon Energy, a dedicated BESS spin-out from Mitsubishi Power Americas, has secured a 328MWh order from utility Idaho Power in the US.

Construction has started on two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Idaho which will be delivered by Powin Energy.
