The European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed €400 million (US$437 million) to support the solar and battery storage development plans of Greek renewables developer Mytilineos.
Bids have been received by Latvia’s grid operator AST for an 80MW/160MWh BESS project while developers Corsica Sole and Everon will build a 200MW system in Estonia, as the Baltic region prepares to decouple from Russia’s electricity system in 2025.
State-owned Estonian energy company Eesti Energia is planning to build a 225MW pumped hydro energy storage facility, as part of a wider push to become independent of Russian energy.
