Of these, 61% of projects were in California and Texas, home to the California Independent System Operator, or CAISO, and the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, transmission systems and wholesale markets.

While other regions of the US are starting to see more activity, CAISO and ERCOT clearly already have the fundamental drivers in place to attract significant investment.

However, their attractiveness makes them very competitive markets, with competition and complexity going hand in hand. Strategies for optimising BESS assets in California and Texas that offer the best return on investment demand both smart planning and responsiveness to market dynamics.

The webinar provides an in-depth analysis of both short-term and medium-term trends in the power markets of ERCOT and CAISO.

In the short term, the declining profitability of ancillary services in ERCOT and CAISO has prompted a shift towards greater participation in energy markets. We explore the risks and rewards associated with engaging in the day-ahead and real-time energy markets, offering insights into how battery storage operators can navigate these changes effectively. We also review expectations of medium-term price volatility, especially in ERCOT after the market moves to Real-Time Co-Optimization with Batteries (RTC+B).

GridBeyond’s experts provide valuable insights into how to find alpha in battery schedule optimisation, and how Q1 2025 compared to previous years.

They also explore the integration of bid optimisation with resource OEMs, a critical approach to maximising profitability while ensuring the longevity and reliability of battery assets. Attendees will gain practical knowledge on aligning their trading strategies with technological advancements and market shifts, positioning themselves for success in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Why attend this webinar:

  • Hear about where battery traders find alpha these days
  • Learn the key considerations in battery optimisation and warranties when collaborating directly with OEMs
